I rarely watch “Last Comic Standing”, but I happened to tune in last night and the show just broke my heart. Paul Foot was voted off the show. He was nearly in tears as he walked off the stage and left with his bags. I immediately grew heated towards this cruel judgmental world. At least he had the nerve to get on stage, unlike millions who would never even try.

His mannerisms exuded anything but comfortable. He is gauche and constantly harassed for it by his so-called fellow comedians, in the contest. ((((((The last time my heart really sank to the bottom of my stomach was while I watched the movie “The Hunchback of Notre dame”. I literally balled my eyes out (and folks I’m not a crier). I felt so bad for this Quasimodo character; I just wanted to take him away from all the cruelty.))))) Farewell Paul Foot. The show isn’t entertaining without you.

Scottish Festival

Since I've lived in Utah I've attended the Scottish Festival every year. I'm not a Scott, but part of my heart is. I tear up every time those bagpipes are played. This year, some of our Utah family came, along with our cousin Alyson (from Cali). We had a great time. We miss you already Alyson.

Thanksgiving Meal in July

Emmanuel and I were starving for some good food. Okay, so I wanted a good excuse to eat stuffing again. We decided to GO ALL OUT AND COOK A TURKEY! We had stuffing,mashed potatoes, moist turkey,veggies, homemade rolls and brownies for desert. I wish I had snapped a picture of the entire gourmet meal before we chowed down. I did manage to get a shot of the rolls Emmanuel made (which took 2 hours). Well done Honey!!

I have the best recipe for moist turkey. We've played around with it and have mastered the TURKEY and we never went to culinary cooking school. Yay for us!!! Here it is:
fill 13x 9 inch pan with 1/2 inch of water &
skin turkey. Place turkey in the pan &
pour worcestershire sauce,
garlic salt,sage, and fresh rosemary over the
entire bird. Cover the bird in aluminum foil
and cook in oven.

Okay, so I have this fascination with food. I love food. I love it so much that I dream about it, I talk about it, I draw it, I watch it on t.v., I sing about it, and last but not least i READ ABOUT IT. This obsession started at the young age of three. I love eating!!!!

Anyway, yesterday I was flipping through all these children books I've either saved or acquired over the years, when i happend to come accross my all time favorite book as a child. And of course the title, "Jelly Beans for Breakfast" has to do with food!!!

The book is out of print, but I wanted to see if anyone was selling a copy online, just in case. Uh, yeah, had no idea people ALL OVER THE WORLD wanted a copy too.

As I searched on the internet,the cheapest I found was and OLD copy selling for $43! Other diehard fans have purchased this little number at a whopping $300. Someone mentioned in a forum they paid $600. I don't know if I believe $600, but then again someone bought Madonna's underwear for a what-the-heck-are-you-thinking price.

Meanwhlie, Miriam Young's other books are selling for 2.99, even a single dollar. Maybe the pages of "Jelly Beans for Breakfast" are laced with cocaine, while her other books are printed with boring old paper. Things that make you go hum................

9 Months!

Izak is 9 months. So crazy to think that Noah and Izak are growing so fast!! Here are a few pics of Izak as of today. He's been trying to stand on his own since 7 months, but he's really starting to hold on to things less and less.

I have always been a big fan of Stephen Hawking , but I never thought I’d get the chance to experience an actual Black Hole.

Everyone warned me, meaning all her daughters, that her home is one big black hole.
As much as I LOVE our daycare lady, her home is indeed a black hole. The first time I experienced this truth, was when I inadvertently left one of Izak’s toys in his bag. When I came to pick him up the toy had disappeared. I thought, "Oh, I’m sure she’ll find it and put it in his bag the next day. Again, not really worried that it was gone I waited another day." By the third day, I asked her where it was and she said, “where what was ? I never saw anything like that before.” Then, panic set in. That toy was a gift and he loved playing with it. So, I decided to look for it myself. I went in to the play room in her home (which was like going to Willy Wonka Land there was so many lost toys from years past), and low and behold.. I couldn’t find it. A week goes by, and I pick up Izak like usual. She came to me and handed bits and pieces of the toy I left in his bag. Asking me, “Was this his toy?” She said to me, “ I don’t know where the other pieces to it are, but you can have these if you want.” My heart shrunk as I saw his brand new toy, pretty much reappeared as an 80 year old toy in bits and pieces. Months later, I saw another piece of his toy attached to “her” regular home toys. At this point, I knew I had lost the battle. So, I went out and bought him another colored link chain.

Second experience of the black hole:
We have three bottles we send him to daycare with. They are on the expensive side, however, I didn’t think I would worry about them not returning to my home. Well, the black hole apparently is hungry for bottles too, not just toys. Maybe it could suck up my dishes sometime. Anyway, so as previously stated, I include three bottles in Izak’s diaper bag. When it was time to feed Izak that night, I looked in his bag and noticed only two bottles in there. Okay, so she forgot to put the third one in. I didn’t worry because I would just get it the next day. NOT TRUE. The bottle didn’t appear in the bag the next day. So, I asked her about the bottle. “Oh you only gave me two bottles today. “ She said. I told her she forgot to give me the third one last night. She disagreed and said I had only given her two. Panic set in again!!!! Needless to say, we are now down to one bottle. I went out and bought two to keep at our house.

Okay, but here is the best part… I got one of our bottles BACK!!! I had to do a mission impossible as she left the room for one second. I noticed one of her kitchen cupboards was open and our bottle was held hostage inside….. I told that bottle to remain calm, “I’m going in”. As she left the room, I ran to grab the bottle, quickly unzipped the diaper bag, threw it in and zipped it shut. Then, I sat down and looked as if nothing happened. She returned, and my heart was racing as I just pilfered something out of someone’s kitchen. It was a weird feeling, I had to steal something that was already mine??? Have you ever done that ???

Day Off!!

Emmanuel was lucky. His boss called early this morning telling him there isn't any work to be done today. So, E and Izak met me for lunch! It was fantastic. It's amazing how many people you forget you know, until you have a baby. They come out of the woodwork. So, I was visiting three different floors.It took me three hours to show him to everyone. So, there went your tithing dollars everyone!!!

Valentine's Day ? Yeah right, how about Heart Attack Day!

It started off a normal workday. I was driving Izak downtown to drop him off at his daycare. About 7:30 this morning, I took the exit to North Temple Street off of the I-80 interchange like normal, when I hit some slippery ice. All of a sudden, I was headed straight for a mile marker and the car was swerving left and right. I felt like I was watching a movie as I lost all control and headed straight down an imbankment! Yes, I screamed obscenities (Sorry Izak)I am sorry to admit. My car kept sliding down and was leaning slightly on it's side. I prayed so hard that we didn't roll. I would be okay if it were just me, but Izak? No Way!

My coworker called me to see if I was still on my way. I told her what had happened and she sent her husband and father to help rescue us. They lived not to far from where we were. Emmanuel was working in Sandy, so it would have taken him a while to get to us.

When they got to me I was only 10 feet away from the road. Not too bad, but as they tried to pull the car in reverse, or drive it forward it kept sliding down the hill SIDEWAYS!!! I was freaking out, because baby was still inside the car! Believe me, I was praying like crazy.

They used shovels to make a pathway for the car to drive on, but to no avail, the car KEPT SLIDING DOWN THE HILL . Mind you, there is a small pond down below. I was sweating bullets by then.

You know the sad part about it all is ONE car actually pulled over to help. All the other cars passed by on the road and some even had the nerve to take pictures of my car on their cell phones. Chad, my friend's husband yelled, "Why don't you actually help us jerk!" I feel like writing a newspaper article on how cold society has become. Where are all the good Samaritan's gone? Well, actually, our whole ward is full of them, but other than that...... where are they? Granted I know there are crazies out there who purposely harm individuals trying to do a good deed, but that just ruins it all for those who really are in need of rescuing.

Anyway, Chad stayed with the car as his Father-in-law drove Izak and I to the daycare. Some guys from Lockheed, pulled over to help Chad and they were able to tow the car up the imbankment. So, by 10:00 a.m. I had my car back! Hooray to all those wonderful men!!!! Heavenly Father totally sends angels to help us, that's for sure.

My husband is an angel too. I got this today at work with a sweet little note.

Okay, it is really hard to capture a smile... it also helps to have a camera capable of handling such a COMPLICATED task. So, after a few tries, I actually snatched a smile. Now, this was two weeks after the Primary Children's incident. Usually, I can get a little smile out of him even when he's not feeling so well. At Primary's he didn't smile for a whole week. Poor Buddy.

It's amazing what you collect in your purse over a year. I didn't realize it, but I had 5, yes, 5 Target giftcards in my purse. I decided to buy Izak an exersaucer so he can get a fun workout.....And...so Emmanuel and I can get somethings done around the house in 10 minutes. It's amazing how fast a baby gets bored!

So, if you have any great traditions your family has, please share. We weren't able to get a real tree this year either. So, that was a bummer, but our Charlie Brown tree worked just fine.
